Building the bin

It's important to know your limitations, and I am definitely not a carpenter. So when we looked at options for a large continuous flow-through worm bin to be able to produce quality compost on a large scale, we had two choices: buy a commercial bin (really nice, but very expensive) or have one built for us.

As we were just starting out as a small business, it seemed ideal to help someone else who was just getting started. We knew a high-school senior interested in a career in carpentry. It seemed to fit perfectly - we'd get a worm bin for a good price, and he would get more experience and another opportunity to showcase his skills to future customers.

It worked beautifully - we couldn't be happier, and our worms are looking forward to moving into their deluxe home soon.
